Tara's Biography

Tara’s approach to counselling is client-centred. She seeks to create a ‘safe container’ within which individuals can communicate their thoughts and feelings with the certainty that they are being understood with compassion and acceptance. Her practice is especially informed by Contemplative Psychology, including mindfulness, compassion, and somatic-based modalities.

Tara completed a two-year clinical Diploma Program in Contemplative Psychotherapy with the Institute of Traditional Medicine/The Nalanda Institute. The Nalanda Institute Contemplative Psychotherapy Program, directed by Dr. Joe Loizzo, MD, PhD, is the leading certification program in the West for integrating mindfulness and compassion-based meditation practices and Buddhist psychology with contemporary psychotherapy and current neuropsychology. Prior to this, Tara was a practising family lawyer, trained in mediation and collaborative conflict resolution. Drawing from these skills and experience, along with her CINERGY® Conflict Coach training, she offers insights to help individuals navigate personal and relational challenges.

Rajarshi's Biography

My therapeutic approach is client-centred, meaning that I strive to meet my clients “where they are” with complete acceptance and support, allowing their specific needs to direct the therapeutic process.

I believe that everyone’s mental health journey is unique, and I strive to take on the role of the listener who creates a compassionate holding space for whatever is arising at the moment. The importance of a safe, loving container in the healing process cannot be underestimated, as individuals who have experienced extreme pain, fear, desertion, and anger often find it difficult to experience their emotions. It is the space between the inner and outer worlds, which is also the space between people – the transitional space – that allows the individual to mindfully experience their authentic self, through which integration and healing may arise.

My practice is informed by different modalities, including evidence-based approaches such as DBT and CBT, as well as free-flowing therapeutic structures, including Psychoanalysis and Existential Therapy, in which my training and passion primarily lies. I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology specializing in Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy, and I have been trained by and worked with some of India’s top psychoanalysts. While in India, I had the incredible opportunity to work with His Holiness, the 17th Karmapa of Tibet, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, preparing the material for a book bringing together the ancient mindfulness and compassion practices of Tibetan Buddhist psychology with evidence-based Western psychotherapy.

After moving to Toronto, Canada, I completed Post-Graduate Studies in Addiction and Mental Health at Humber College and have supported individuals on their journey to recovery as an Addictions and Mental Health Therapist.
